Who Does the Foundation Fund?

The Foundation makes grants only to corporate organizations that are exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation will not make grants to individuals or for-profit organizations. In addition, the Foundation has a geographic limitation that requires that grant funds be used in Bandera, Bexar, Comal, and Kendall counties in Texas.

The Foundation will not grant money to any organization that is not a 501 (c)(3). Organizations that are designated as a 501(c)(3) may act as a fiscal agent and be held accountable for charitable activities that do not have a separate 501(c)(3) designation.

The Foundation supports programs that directly affect persons living in Bandera, Bexar, Comal, and Kendall counties. Provided the project funds requested from the Foundation will be spent in one or more of these counties, and benefit primarily residents of those counties, your organization is eligible to apply.

As a general rule, the Foundation does not fund economic development, annual fund and fundraising event sponsorships (i.e. tables and teams), political or lobbying activities, or religious organizations for sectarian purposes.

All organizations are encouraged to submit Letters of Inquiries for programs consistent with the Program Goals of the Foundation. However, meaningful non-governmental support representative of broad community support is an important factor in the decision making process of the Foundation.
